    • International Energy Agency released World Energy Outlook 2023.
    • The India Pavilion at the B2B Food Exhibition, held under the banner of InFlavourExpo in Riyadh, was officially opened by Ambassador Dr. Suhel Khan on 30 October 2023. This marks a significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
    • The International Workshop on ‘Food Loss and Waste Prevention in the South Asian Region’ was inaugurated in New Delhi on 30th October 2023. The workshop was a joint effort by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) and the Th√ľnen Institute in Germany.
    • According to the Fairwork India Ratings 2023 report, BigBasket has been rated as the best platform for gig workers in India. BigBasket scored the highest overall score of 6 out of 10 points.
    • The Jharkhand government has approved the ‘Abua Awas Yojana’ (AAY), a housing scheme for the poor. The plan is to provide eight lakh pucca houses to the homeless in the state. The total budget for this scheme is Rs 16,320 crore.
  • International:
    • The Cayman Islands has been removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) anti-money laundering grey list. This decision was made as a result of the Cayman Islands’ adherence to the globally accepted standards of the anti-money laundering (AML) regime.
  • Banking:
    • Yes Bank has indeed reinstated its stake in JC Flowers Asset Reconstruction (JC Flowers ARC) to 9.9%. The bank acquired 24,643,558 equity shares of JC Flowers ARC at Rs 29.68 per equity share. This acquisition comes after the bank’s stake had reduced to 5.01% from 9.9% due to certain corporate actions in JC Flowers ARC.
  • Appointments:
    • The former Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has indeed been onboarded as the brand ambassador for the State Bank of India (SBI). He will play a pivotal role in various marketing and promotional campaigns for the bank.
    • Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been announced as the Global Brand Ambassador for Rado, the renowned Swiss watchmaker.
  • Awards & Honors:
    • UST, a leading digital transformation solutions company, has indeed been recognized by the 2023 Mahatma Awards for its sustainable and impactful contributions to corporate social responsibility (CSR). Smita Sharma, Global Programme Manager-CSR, UST received this Award.
  • Important Days:
    • The United Nations (UN)'s first-ever International Day of Care and Support was observed across the globe on 29 October 2023. This day aims to emphasize the importance of caregiving, recognize the contributions of caregivers, and advocate for policies and initiatives that support and enhance care in all its forms.
    • National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, is celebrated annually on October 31 in India. This day pays tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an Indian freedom fighter and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent India.
    • World Stroke Day 2023 is indeed on October 29. The theme for this year is “Together we are Greater Than Stroke” which was officially announced by the World Stroke Organization (WSO).
