- The MoUs were signed during a meeting between Raquel Pena Rodriguez, the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, and India’s Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
- The first MoU was signed between India’s CSIR-NIO (National Institute of Oceanography) and the Dominican Republic’s National Institute of Maritime Affairs for scientific cooperation in ocean sciences.
- In addition to these MoUs, the two leaders also held discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in diverse sectors including trade, pharmaceuticals, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), agriculture, food processing, space, higher education, capacity building, Ayurveda and Yoga.
- This is indeed a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral ties between India and the Dominican Republic
