Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on 20th October 2023. The inauguration took place at the Sahibabad RapidX Station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

  • He also flagged off the Namo Bharat RapidX train, which connects Sahibabad to Duhai Depot.
  • This marks the launch of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India.
  • The complete 82.15 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is on track to be operational by June 2025. 
  • This transformative initiative is set to revolutionize intercity travel within the region.
  • The priority section of this corridor, spanning from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, was inaugurated by PM Modi.
  • This section includes five stations - Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.
