Current Context: World Sight Day 2023. World Sight Day is a global event that aims to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and vision care. It is celebrated annually on the second Thursday of October, which falls on October 12 this year.

• The theme for World Sight Day 2023 is Love Your Eyes at Work. This theme focuses on helping people understand how to protect their vision in the workplace and calling on business leaders to prioritize the eye health of workers, everywhere.
• World Sight Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and progress made in eye care and rehabilitation services in the WHO South-East Asia Region.
• The region has launched the Action Plan for Integrated People-Centered Eye Care in South-East Asia 2022-2030, which aims to strengthen the eye health care strategy in alignment with global and regional initiatives.
