  • National:
    • Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh set a new Guinness World Record by lighting 22.23 lakh earthen lamps across 51 ghats during its Deepotsav celebration. This event took place on the eve of Diwali.

    • Ashok Leyland has indeed become the first Indian Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to manufacture Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) engines. The first batch of India’s first LNG-powered haulage truck, AVTR 1922, was delivered to Mahanagar Gas Limited.
    • The India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2023 started on 14th November 2023 and will conclude on 27th November 2023. It’s being held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. This event is the largest and biggest integrated trade fair with both B2B and B2C components.
    • The Home Ministry of India has declared nine Meitei extremist groups as unlawful associations for a period of five years. These organizations were banned for allegedly engaging in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.

    • The 33rd Conference of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Regional Commission for Asia and Pacific started in New Delhi, India. The conference is being held at the Hotel Taj Mahal and was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry.
  • Economy:
    • Moody’s Investors Service has indeed retained India’s economic growth forecast for 2023 at 6.7%. For the subsequent years, Moody’s expects India’s real GDP to grow about 6.1% in 2024 and 6.3% in 2025.
    • Retail inflation in India did reach 4.87% in October 2023. This was primarily driven by a decrease in core and fuel inflation. However, food prices are still being seen as a risk to retail inflation. The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) recorded an inflation rate of 6.61% in October.
    • In October, India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) fell by 0.52%, marking the 7th straight month of decline. In October of the previous year, the WPI was at 8.67%.
  • Banking:
    • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) have introduced the Natural Capital Fund (NCF). The NCF is designed to mobilize and deploy catalytic capital for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that are implementing climate-smart, agri-food systems projects that protect, restore, and sustainably use natural capital.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is indeed probing the forex outage of Refinitiv. On November 10, 2023, Refinitiv’s electronic trading platform, which is authorized to offer forex products, faced an outage for about 10 minutes. This incident led to significant volatility in the Indian Rupee, causing it to plunge to a lifetime low of Rs.83.33 against the US dollar.
