    • The Maharashtra government has indeed accepted the first report of a committee headed by retired High Court Judge Sandeep Shinde. This committee was constituted to decide the procedure for granting Kunbi caste certificates to the Marathas in the Marathwada region.
    • Four Special Operations received the Union Home Minister’s “Special Operation Medal” for 2023.

    • The China-based company Ehang has indeed received the world’s first airworthiness certification for its fully autonomous, passenger-carrying air taxis.
    • The “AI Security Summit 2023” being held at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire, UK on 1-2 November.
  • Economy:
    • The Index of Eight Core Industries (ICI) measures the combined and individual performance of production of eight core industries in India, namely Cement, Coal, Crude Oil, Electricity, Fertilizers, Natural Gas, Refinery Products and Steel.The ICI increased by 8.1 percent in September 2023 as compared to September 2022.
  • Sports:
    • Priyanka Goswami created a new record in women’s 20 km race walk at the National Race Walking Championships in Ranchi, Jharkhand, at the National Games in Goa.
  • Awards & Honors:
    • Nita Ambani, the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation, was honoured with the 2023 USISPF Global Leadership Award for Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on October 31, 2023.
    • Aitana Bonmati and Lionel Messi have been named the 2023 Ballon d’Or winners for their outstanding performances in women’s and men’s football respectively. They are both from Spain and Argentina, and they both play for the same club, Inter Miami, in the United States.
    • West Bengal Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose awarded the inaugural Durga Bharat Samman to four recipients for their outstanding contributions in different fields. The awards were presented on October 21st, 2023, during the Durga Puja festival.The four recipients were: Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), The Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Visva-Bharati.
  • Appointments:
    • Professor Sarang Deo, a distinguished figure in the field of Operations Management and healthcare, has been appointed as a member of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group (STAG) for Tuberculosis by the World Health Organization (WHO).
    • The Edtech startup Henry Harvin Education (HHE) has indeed named the renowned author and speaker, Chetan Bhagat, as its Brand Ambassador. This partnership represents a shared vision and commitment to empowering the youth of India.
  • Important Days:
    • World Savings Day is observed on October 31 each year to highlight the importance of saving for the future. The theme of this day is set up by the International Savings Bank Congress is "Conquer your Tomorrow" through savings.
    • World Occupational Therapy Day will be observed on 27th October 2023. The theme for World Occupational Therapy Day 2023 is "Unity through Community. This theme promotes the role of occupational therapists in working together with others to facilitate participation and community interaction.
