  • National:
    • The Central government has exempted the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) from the Right to Information (RTI) Act. CERT-In is the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents.

    • The government has decided to rename the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres as ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’. The Union Health Ministry has sent a letter to the states and Union territories to implement the rebranding exercise.
    • The 8th India Water Impact Summit (IWIS) was indeed organized from 22-24 November 2023. The summit was inaugurated by Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
    • The Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative (AGNI) is a program launched by the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush on 22nd November 2023 in Delhi. The initiative aims to promote research for mainstreaming the pragmatic Ayurveda practices through scientific validation and evidence-based appraisal.
    • The Indian government has announced the mandatory blending of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transport and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for households in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector.
    • The Hamfest India 2023 was inaugurated by Shri Devusinh Chauhan, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications. The inauguration took place on Saturday, 25th November, 2023 at Science City, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
    • On 25th November 2023 Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated the two-day ‘International Seminar on Santha Kavi Bhima Bhoi and the legacy of Mahima Cult’ in Bhubaneswar.
  • International:
    • The Malaysian government has announced a significant policy change regarding entry visas for Indian citizens. Starting from December 1, 2023, Indian citizens will be allowed to enter Malaysia without a visa. This move is part of Malaysia’s efforts to rapidly expand its tourism sector and promote economic development.
    • China, Japan, and South Korea have agreed to resume their trilateral leaders’ summit. The potential summit will include President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
    • India and the US have agreed to a Cultural Property Agreement to simplify the process of returning antiquities. This agreement is a tool to prevent illicit trafficking of cultural artefacts. It includes a Designated List of archaeological materials which will be used for import restrictions.
  • Economy:
    • Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2023 Report Union Minister stated that the total Meat production in the country is estimated as 9.77million tonnes during 2022-23 registered a growth of 20.39 % over the past 5 years as compared to the estimates of 8.11 milliontonnes in 2018-19.
  • Mous:
    • The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) have indeed signed a strategic partnership in disaster risk reduction on 25th November 2023. This partnership aims to foster knowledge and innovation in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and cultivate a culture of safety.
  • Science & Technology:
    • The “Amaterasu” is an extremely high-energy particle that was recently detected on 24th November 2023. Named after the sun goddess in Japanese mythology, it is one of the highest-energy cosmic rays ever detected.
    • Researchers have found that Neanderthals had the capacity to both hear and produce speech sounds similar to those produced by modern humans. This discovery is based on detailed analysis and digital reconstruction of the bones present in their skulls.
  • Sports:
    • Fuelled by superlative performances from Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi, India finished Asian Para Archery Championships on top, ending the competition with an overall tally of nine medals (four gold, four silver, one bronze).
    • Meg Lanning, the captain of the Australian women’s cricket team, announced her retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Lanning, one of the most successful captains in cricket history, led Australia to four T20 World Cup titles, an ODI World Cup title, and a Commonwealth Games gold medal.
    • Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from international cricket. Imad Wasim has had a significant career, having played 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is for Pakistan. He was also part of the men’s Champions Trophy-winning side in 2017.
  • Important Days:
    • National Milk Day 2023 is on 26th November. This day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, who is widely regarded as the “Father of the White Revolution” in India.
    • The Uttar Pradesh government has declared November 25 as ‘No Non-Veg Day’ in honor of Sadhu TL Vaswani’s birth anniversary and to promote non-violence. On this day, all slaughterhouses and meat shops in the state will remain closed.
  • Awards & Honors:
    • The Ministry of Steel presented the National Metallurgist Awards 2022 on 22nd November, 2023 to recognize the contributions of metallurgists in the Iron & Steel sector. Dr. Kamachi Mudali Uthandi received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee was honored with the National Metallurgist Award, Dr. Rameshwar Sah won the award for R&D in the Iron & Steel Sector, The Young Metallurgist (Environment) Award went to Dr. Niloy Kundu, Agilan Muthumanickam received the Young Metallurgist (Metal Science) Award.
  • Appointments:
    • Rajneesh Goel, an IAS officer of the 1986 batch, has been appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Karnataka. He will take charge from the outgoing Chief Secretary, Vandita Sharma, who is retiring from service, on November 30. This makes him the 40th Chief Secretary of Karnataka.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has superseded the board of directors of Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank for a period of 12 months due to "poor corporate governance". The RBI has appointed Satya Prakash Pathak, former Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, as the administrator.
