    • The Bihar Caste Census Report 2023, released on October 2, 2023, provides a comprehensive analysis of the state’s demographic composition. The report reveals that the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs) make up 36.01% of Bihar’s population, which stands at 13.07 crore.
    • Bharat Botanics has announced the opening of its wood-pressed cold oil processing facility in Gondal, Rajkot, Gujarat. This 16,000 square feet automated facility is one of its kind, promoting 100% hygiene and transparency.
  • International:
    • The UGC has notified the draft regulations for foreign universities to set up and operate campuses in India on November 9, 2023.
    • The United Nations (UN) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have collaborated on the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP). This program aims to increase the number of women in the nuclear field and promote an inclusive workforce of both men and women who contribute to and drive global scientific and technological innovation.
    • The UK Government hosted the world’s first Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit 2023 on the 1st and 2nd of November at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire.
  • Banking:
    • Canara HSBC Life Insurance has indeed launched a new plan called ‘Guaranteed Assured Income’ (GAIN) for the customers of Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank. This plan is designed to provide guaranteed benefits and a regular income to meet both long-term and short-term financial goals.
  • Indices & Ranking:
    • The QS Asia University Rankings 2024 were released on 8th November. The rankings comprise 856 top universities from the continent.
    • Here are some highlights:
      • The top rank among private universities in India was secured by Chandigarh University.
      • The India list is led by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras.
      • Only three Pakistani universities appeared on the list

    • As of the latest ICC rankings, Shubman Gill has become the No. 1 batter in ICC ODI Rankings for men. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj has claimed the top position in the bowling chart in the ICC ODI rankings.
  • Awards & Honors:
    • Serena Williams, the tennis legend, has indeed been honored with the Fashion Icon award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2023123. This makes her the first athlete to receive this prestigious award.
    • The 71st Foundation Day of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) was celebrated in New Delhi.     • The Earthshot Prize is a global initiative founded by Prince William to reward innovative solutions that can repair the planet and tackle the most urgent environmental challenges. The prize awards five winners each year, one for each of the five Earthshots: Protect & Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-free World, and Fix Our Climate.

    • Goverdhan S. Rawat and Ajay K. Sood have been appointed as Deputy Managing Directors of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
