University of Delhi ranked 220th on QS World University Ranking for Sustainability 2024

Current Context: According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, the University of Delhi is the most sustainable university in India, ranking 220th in the world. The University of Toronto is ranked 21st in the world and has a perfect score of 100 in the sustainability indicator.

• This ranking evaluates the environmental and social impact of 1,500 universities around the world, based on eight indicators: sustainable institutions, sustainable education, sustainable research, equality, knowledge exchange, educational impact, employability and opportunities, and quality of life.
• The ranking aims to reflect the changing priorities of students and the evolving missions of world-class higher education institutions today.
• According to the ranking, India has only one university in the top 200: the University of Delhi (DU), which ranks 220th overall and 11th in India.
• DU scored 100 out of 100 in the sustainability indicator, which measures how well universities are addressing environmental and social challenges.
• DU is followed by two other Indian institutes in the top 300: IIT Bombay (281-300) and IIT Madras (281-300).
• These three universities are among the most sustainable in Asia.
