  • National:
    • The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) conducted a training program at Chilika Lake under the Amrit Dharohar Capacity Building Scheme on 6th January 2024. The scheme aims to develop local communities around Ramsar sites and provide them with alternative livelihoods.     • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) revised the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) on January 8, 2024. The key changes include: Increase in weekly rest periods from 36 hours to 48 hours. Amendment of night duty definition to cover midnight to 6 am. Restriction of maximum landings by pilots to two. These changes aim to reduce pilot fatigue and enhance flight safety. Compliance is required by June 1, 2024.
    • Punjab has indeed become the first state in India to map all accident-prone sites on the Mappls App, a navigation system developed by MapMyIndia. This initiative is part of the preparations for the launch of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s flagship project, the 'Sadak Suraksha Force’.

Global growth is projected to slow for the third consecutive year, from 2.6% last year to 2.4% in 2024. This is almost three-quarters of a percentage point below the average of the 2010s. As for India, the World Bank has retained its economic growth forecast at 6.3% for the current financial year, and 6.4% for the next fiscal year (FY24/25).
