Current Context: The 12th Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting between India and Oman was held in Muscat on January 31, 2024.
India and Oman hold the 12th Joint Military Cooperation Committee meeting in Muscat
  • The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane from India and Secretary General, Ministry of Defence, Oman Dr. Mohammed Bin Naseer Bin Ali Al Zaabi.
  •  The purpose of this committee is to evaluate and provide guidance to the overall framework of defence exchanges between the two sides
  • During the meeting, both sides reviewed and appreciated the robust defence cooperation between India and Oman.
  • They discussed many new areas of cooperation in the fields of training, joint exercise, information sharing, oceanography, shipbuilding & MRO.
  • They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of shared interest.
  • As a significant outcome of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pertaining to procurement of Defence Material and Equipment was signed.
  • This MoU provides a framework for a new area of defence collaboration.
