Sitharaman Unveils 3 Coins at SPMCIL’s 19th Foundation Day

Current Context: On the 19th Foundation Day of the Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), which was celebrated on February 15, 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled three commemorative coins.
Sitharaman Unveils 3 Coins at SPMCIL’s 19th Foundation Day
  • The first coin featured the theme of Ram Lalla and the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.
  • The second was a bi-metallic clad souvenir coin commemorating the Enlightenment of Lord Buddha, showcasing oxidized Matte finish images of Buddha & Stupa.
  • The third coin featured the Greater one-horned Rhino as part of the Endangered Animals of India series.
  • These coins can be purchased from the SPMCIL’s official website for a nominal price. 
  • The Finance Minister praised the efforts of SPMCIL for coming up with these commemorative stamps and coins.
  • She mentioned that the themes of these coins show that SPMCIL is keeping abreast of the developments around the world, environmental concerns, concerns for divyang, and also making the coins attractive enough to become items worthy of being gifted.
