Current Context: The Hurun Global Rich List 2024, released by the Hurun Research Institute on March 26, 2024, provides a comprehensive snapshot of the world’s billionaires in US dollars.
In Hurun Research's list, Mumbai has emerged as Asia's new billionaire hub, overtaking Beijing
  • Here are some key findings from the report:
    • The list features 3,279 billionaires worldwide, an increase of 5% from the previous year.
    • The total wealth of these billionaires has grown by 9%, reaching a staggering US$15 trillion.
    • The USA added 109 billionaires to a total of 800, while China, despite a decrease of 155 billionaires, still leads with 814.
    • India is third with 271 billionaires, up by 84, marking the second-highest rise after the USA.
    • The UK overtook Germany to the fourth spot with 146 billionaires.
    • Elon Musk is the richest person in the world for the third time in 4 years, with a net worth of US$231 billion.
    • Mukesh Ambani of Reliance added US$33 billion to keep the title of 'Richest Person in Asia’.
    • Gautam Adani’s wealth rose 62% to 15th place in the world with US$86 billion.
    • Mumbai overtook Beijing to become Asia’s billionaire capital for the first time and broke into the world’s top 3.
    • New York took back the status of billionaire capital of the world for the first time in 7 years, with 119 billionaires choosing to live there.
    • The fastest risers in the year were individuals who added US$5 billion or more to their wealth.
