Current Context: A bilateral meeting was held between the Armenian parliamentary delegation, led by the Vice President of the National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, and the Indian parliamentary delegation, led by the Deputy Speaker of the Indian Parliament, Harivansh Narayan Singh.

  • This meeting took place in Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
  • The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the partnership between the two countries and expand cooperation into multiple areas such as trade, transport and communication, defence, health, culture, science and education, information and high technologies, tourism, and others.
  • Harivansh Narayan Singh expressed his support for the peace process and noted that India and Armenia have common ideas of governance, which provides an opportunity for collaboration and experience sharing.
  • It was also discussed that a strong diaspora could contribute to strengthening India-Armenia bilateral relations.
  • Given the geopolitical dynamics in the respective regions, India and Armenia can come together to promote peace and stability, as well as addressing common security challenges.
