6 April - International Day of Sports For Development And Peace

Current Context: The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) is observed annually on 6th April.

This day was declared by the UN General Assembly to raise awareness of the potential of sport to advance human rights, and social and economic development.
The United Nations recognizes the power of sport as a low-cost and high-impact tool in humanitarian, development, and peace-building efforts.
Sport can unite individuals and groups, and it’s used to support sport for development efforts, participate in global and grassroots events, and develop sports-related campaigns and initiatives.
The global theme 2024 is "Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies".
On this day, events are organized to focus on how prominent sporting bodies engage in partnerships to make positive impacts for people and the environments in which they operate.
