Current Context: On April 24th, 2024, Rocket Lab successfully launched the “Beginning Of The Swarm” mission from Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand.
Rocket Lab launches NASA’s ACS3 and South Korea’s ‘NEONSAT-1’ into orbit
  • The Electron rocket carried two satellites for separate customers:
    • NEONSAT-1: An Earth observation satellite developed for the Satellite Technology Research Center (SaTReC) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). NEONSAT-1 is equipped with a high-resolution optical camera designed to monitor natural disasters on the Korean Peninsula using artificial intelligence. It is the first satellite developed under the NEONSAT program, with plans for additional NEONSAT satellites to be launched in 2026 and 2027 to form a constellation.
    • NASA’s Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3): ACS3 is a technology demonstration that explores new materials and deployable structures for solar sail propulsion systems. These systems utilize sunlight to propel spacecraft.
