Current Context: World Red Cross Day is celebrated on 8th May every year. This day is the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, who was born on 8 May 1828 in Geneva, Switzerland, and died on 30 October 1910 in Heiden, Switzerland.

• He was the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901.
• The day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
• It’s a day when we honor the legacy of Henry Dunant, the pioneering volunteer who founded the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement more than 160 years ago.
