Current Context: The Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific & Middle East announced the results of the Green Airports Recognition (GAR) 2024 at the 19th ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Assembly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 21 to 23 May 2024.

  • The theme for the Green Airports Recognition 2024 was Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions.
  • Three Indian airports bagged the ‘Silver’ award in their respective categories:
    • Indira Gandhi International Airport won the Silver award in the category of airports handling over 35 million passengers per annum,
    • Kempegowda International Airport bagged the Silver award in the category of airports handling between 15 million and 35 million passengers a year, and
    • Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow won the Silver award in the category of airports handling less than 8 million passengers a year.
  • These airports have demonstrated exemplary commitment to environmental stewardship.
