MEA, MeitY, and CSC Collaborate to Provide eMigrate Services

Current Context: An MoU has been signed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd to provide eMigrate services through Common Services Centres (CSCs) on 29th May 2024, in New Delhi.

  • Here are the key points of this initiative:
    • Objective: The MoU aims to create synergy between CSC SPV & MEA to facilitate the eMigrate services through CSCs, especially for blue-collar workers going to Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries.
    • Services Offered: The integration of the eMigrate Portal with CSC’s portal will allow registration, document processing, and booking for medical and other services required by migrant workers.
    • Awareness: Part of the initiative is to create awareness about eMigrate services amongst citizens across India.
    • Digital Governance Conference: The MoU was signed during the conference of National Workshop on “Powering Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance” in the presence of dignitaries from MeitY and other organizations.
    • Significance: This collaboration is expected to expand channels of safe & legal migration at the grassroots level and prevent exploitation of Indian citizens seeking employment overseas.
