Current Context: The World Day Against Child Labour, observed on June 12 every year, was established in 2002 by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
12 June - World Day Against Child Labour
  • The day is dedicated to raising awareness and fostering a worldwide movement against child labour.
  • The theme for the year 2024 is “Let’s Act on Our Commitments: End Child Labour!”. 
  • This year, the focus is on the 25th anniversary of the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention (1999, No. 182).
  • The day also calls for improved implementation of two fundamental Conventions on child labour - Convention No. 182 and Convention No. 138.
  • Despite significant progress, recent years have seen a reversal in global trends, with 160 million children, almost one in ten worldwide, still engaged in child labour.
