Current Context: On 18th July 2024, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel recently inaugurated the Shramik Basera Yojana, an initiative aimed at improving the living standards of unorganized sector workers, including construction workers.
Here are the key details:- Objective: The scheme provides temporary accommodation to construction workers at a nominal rate of ₹5 per day.
- Locations: The Shramik Baseras will be constructed in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Rajkot.
- Beneficiaries: Once completed, these Shramik Baseras will benefit over 15,000 construction workers.
- Future Plans: Over the next three years, the government plans to construct convenient temporary accommodations for about 3,00,000 construction workers, with an estimated cost of ₹1,500 crore.
