  • National:

    • The dominance of fossil fuels in electricity generation is expected to end by 2030, with renewable energy sources projected to account for over 50% of global electricity generation. This shift is driven by accelerated deployment of clean technologies and increased investment in renewable energy.
    • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Oxygen Bird Park (Amrit Mahotsav Park) in Nagpur. Spanning 8.23 hectares, this eco-friendly park along NH-44 promotes ecological awareness and conservation. It features diverse trees, a lotus pond, and areas for local and migratory birds.
  • Banking:
    • Foreign Portfolio Investments (FPIs) in India reached a nine-month high of ₹57,359 crore in September 2024 (till September 27). This surge reflects strong investor confidence, driven by economic stability and favorable government policies.
    • The Indian government has proposed 2022-23 as the new base year for GDP computation, aiming for implementation by February 2026.     • The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has postponed the implementation of the T+0 (same-day) settlement cycle, which was initially scheduled to go live on September 30, 2024. The new date for this change will be announced later.
    • India has launched an anti-dumping investigation on imports of R-134a (Tetrafluoroethane) from China. This refrigerant is used in domestic and automobile air conditioners. The probe follows a petition by SRF Limited, India’s sole producer of R-134a.
    • HDFC Bank has launched an Instant SIP feature via its SmartWealth app, allowing same-day investments in mutual funds. The app also offers a Unified Dashboard for consolidated investment views and Streamlined Deposits for quicker bookings and better interest rates.

    • City Union Bank (CUB) launched eight new payment products at the 5th Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai.     • SBI General Insurance launched the ‘SBIG Health Super Top-Up’ plan on September 25, 2024.   • Science & Technology:
    • The Women in Space Leadership Programme (WiSLP) was launched by India’s Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the British Council on September 24, 2024.
