  • National:
    • On October 24, 2024, the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) became India's first port listed on the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) platform. Released by the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), the ESI promotes eco-friendly practices and reduced air emissions in shipping.

    • On October 25, 2024, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) announced a strategic partnership with HCLSoftware to support manufacturing startups in India. This collaboration is part of DPIIT's initiative to encourage corporates to incubate startups, providing them access to HCL's SYNC program for global market exposure.
  • Banking:
    • On October 14, 2024, the Assam government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched a Rs 796.88 crore project to restore 129 wetlands in the state. This initiative aims to mitigate floods, recharge groundwater, and boost fish production by rejuvenating 4000 hectares of wetlands.
    • On October 15, 2024, the Government of India (GoI) sold a 5% stake in Cochin Shipyard Limited through an Offer for Sale (OFS), raising Rs 2,026 crore. The floor price was set at Rs 1,540 per share, an 8% discount to the previous day's closing price.
  • MoUs:
    • On October 8, 2024, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance clean energy technologies and transitionsn in Paris. The MoU aims to foster energy innovation, reduce emissions, and support clean energy transitions, particularly in emerging and developing economies.
  • Science & Technology:
    • On October 25, 2024, scientists at the Agharkar Research Institute in Pune developed new non-toxic molecules to treat Alzheimer's disease. These molecules target cholinesterase enzymes and were synthesized using synthetic, computational, and in-vitro studies.
  • Defence:
    • On October 25, 2024, NTPC and the Indian Army agreed to establish a solar hydrogen microgrid in Chushul, Ladakh. This project aims to provide a stable, year-round power supply using green hydrogen, replacing diesel generators. The microgrid will supply 200 kW of power continuously.
  • Appointments:
    • On October 15, 2024, TV Narendran, CEO of Tata Steel, was elected as Chairman of the World Steel Association (worldsteel). He is the second Indian to hold this position, following JSW Group's Sajjan Jindal. Narendran also joined the 17-member executive committee.
  • Obituaries:
    • Rohini Godbole, a renowned physicist and advocate for women in science, passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 71. She was associated with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and was a Padma Shri recipient.
