Current Context: NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) and the Indian Army have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a solar-hydrogen microgrid in Chushul, Ladakh.

    • Objective: To replace the Army’s existing diesel generator sets, eliminating fossil fuel logistics and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1,500 tons per year.
    • Benefits: The project will contribute to the decarbonization and modernization of the defense sector in border regions of the Himalayas.
