Current Context: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a ₹60,000-crore scheme on May 7, 2025, aimed at upgrading 1,000 government-run ITIs and establishing five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling at NSTIs in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, and Ludhiana.
