  • On May 17, 2025, RBI announced the upcoming issuance of ₹20 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, featuring Governor Sanjay Malhotra’s signature. The new notes will retain the existing design with Ellora Caves motif on the reverse side. All previously issued ₹20 banknotes will remain valid legal tender.
