  • On June 19, 2025, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) held the first National Consultation on Gender Budgeting at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The aim was to promote gender-responsive governance by integrating gender into public finance and policy. Key highlights included the launch of the Gender Budgeting Knowledge Hub and a ₹4.49 lakh crore allocation for FY 2025–26.

International:
  • On June 17, 2025, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) recognized 20 new Centennial Observing Stations (COS) to preserve long-term climate data. These include stations in Namibia (5), Portugal (5), USA (4), Norway (3), Vietnam (2), and France (1). The oldest, the Susquehanna River station in the USA, dates back to 1786.

  • On June 16, 2025, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) invested USD 60 million in Motilal Oswal Alternates’s India Business Excellence Fund V G. The fund targets mid-market companies across tier-2 and tier-3 cities and Low-Income States (LIS) in India. It has a total corpus of USD 750 million with a greenshoe option of USD 150 million.

  • On June 19, 2025, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) signed a MoU with YourStory Media Private Limited in New Delhi to empower 1 million entrepreneurs across Tier II, Tier III, and rural India. The initiative, part of the Bharat Project, aims to foster inclusive entrepreneurship using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, regional language storytelling, and venture launchpads.

  • On June 19, 2025, scientists at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru discovered a new kind of stellar chemistry. They identified germanium (Ge II) in an Extreme Helium (EHe) star named A980, 25,800 light-years away in the Ophiuchus Constellation.
Reports:
  • On June 19, 2025, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) released the 25th edition of the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) – Way Forward Monthly Report (May 2025). It reported 21,062 e-services across States and Union Territories, with Tripura leading 424 new additions in April 2025. Maharashtra and Uttarakhand achieved 100% saturation of mandatory e-services under NeSDA.

  • On June 18, 2025, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Arnala, its first indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), at Visakhapatnam. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Enginees (GRSE) and L&T, it features over 80% indigenous content.

Obituaries:
  • Padma Shri awardee Maruti Chitampalli passed away on June 18, 2025, at age 93. He was a revered environmentalist and author, known as the “Forest Sage” of Maharashtra. He developed sanctuaries like Nagzira and Navegaon and pioneered Marathi nature writing.
