Current Context: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) disbursed Rs 300 crore as margin money subsidy to 11,480 service sector beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) on June 17, 2025.

  • The Central Zone (Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand) received Rs 72 crore for 2,403 projects, while the East Zone (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar) got Rs 22 crore for 996 projects.
  • The Western Zone (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa) received Rs 26 crore for 722 projects, and the North Eastern Region saw Rs 2 crore allocated to 81 projects.
  • Since its inception, PMEGP has supported over 10.18 lakh micro enterprises, generating employment for over 90 lakh people.
