MoE Released PGI 2.0 Report for 2022-23 & 2023–24: Chandigarh Tops

Current Context: The report is titled “Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 for States/UTs 2022–23 and 2023–24”, released by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India on June 18, 2025.

What’s in the report:

• It assesses school education across 36 States and Union Territories using 73 indicators across 6 domains: Learning Outcomes, Access, Infrastructure & Facilities, Equity, Governance Processes, and Teacher Education & Training.
• Chandigarh topped the index with a score of 703, achieving the Prachesta-1 grade.
• Meghalaya ranked lowest with 417.9, falling into the Akanshi-3 band.
• The report highlights inter-state disparities, progress in infrastructure, and persistent challenges in learning outcomes and equity.

It’s aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to drive data-based reforms in school education.
