  • On July 14, 2025, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Sharavathi Bridge in Shivamogga, Karnataka, India’s 2nd longest cable-stayed bridge. It spans 6 km with a 740-meter cable-stayed section, linking Ambaragodlu and Kalasavalli, improving access to Sigandur & Chowdeshwari Temple. Built at a cost of ₹472 crore, it aims to boost regional connectivity and tourism.

  • On July 12, 2025, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated India’s first Aqua Tech Park at Bagibari, Sonapur, to advance fishery innovation. It features cutting-edge aquaculture systems like biofloc, aquaponics, and ornamental fish breeding, developed with support from NABARD, ICAR, and others. Assam rose to 4th in national fish production, backed by schemes like PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, SWIFT, and a major ADB project.
  • On July 14, 2025, Coal India Limited (CIL) inaugurated India’s first all-women operated dispensary at SECL HQ, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Staffed by a 14-member women-only medical team, it offers OPD, emergency care, ECG, pharmacy, and lab services. Aims to promote gender inclusivity in the coal sector, aligning with Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s vision.
  • On July 11, 2025, Cyprus-based firms Interorient Navigation and Danship & Partners announced a record ₹10,000 crore FDI in India’s shipping sector—the largest since 2005.   • 75th Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra was inaugurated on 15 July 2025 at Govt Medical College, Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. It provides free assistive devices under ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) and RVY (Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana).
  • On 14 July 2025, Yakten village in Sikkim’s Pakyong district was declared India’s first Digital Nomad Village under the Nomad Sikkim initiative. Launched by Sarvahitey NGO and local administration, it offers tech-enabled homestays, dual internet lines, and green infrastructure.

  • On 14 July 2025, Groww Mutual Fund launched India’s first power-focused ETF and FoF, linked to the BSE Power Index – TRI. With just ₹500 minimum investment, no exit load, and low tracking error via 10SPEARTech, it targets India's growing energy demand.
  • On July 11, 2025, the RBI imposed penalties on HDFC Bank (₹4.88 lakh) for violating foreign investment norms and on Shriram Finance (₹2.70 lakh) for breaching digital lending rules. HDFC erred while granting a term loan under RBI’s Master Direction on Foreign Investment in India. Shriram Finance routed loan repayments via a third-party account, violating Digital Lending Directions, 2025.

  • China published its cyborg bee breakthrough in the Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering. Developed by Beijing Institute of Technology, the device weighs just 74 mg and controls bees via brain-piercing micro-needles. It’s designed for disaster relief, military use, and environmental sensing, though power and signal limits remain. Global coverage surged around 10 July, positioning China ahead in insect-scale cyborg tech.
  • On 13 July 2025, Israel launched Dror-1, its most advanced satellite, via SpaceX Falcon 9. Developed by IAI, it features giant antennas and smart tech for flexible communication. It’ll serve strategic and civilian needs in geostationary orbit for 15 years. 💰 Worth $200 million, it boosts Israel’s space independence.

  • On 16 July 2025, Karnataka Bank appointed Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat as its Interim Managing Director & CEO for a period of three months, following the resignation of Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma. Bhat, a veteran with 38 years at the bank, previously served as Chief Operating Officer and has now also been made an Additional Director on the board.
  • On 15 July 2025, Sanjay Kaul, a 2001-batch IAS officer, was appointed MD & CEO of GIFT City, Gandhinagar, for a 3-year tenure. He replaces Tapan Ray, who has led since 2019, and currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. Kaul has prior experience in Gujarat as MD of Tourism Corporation and Gujarat Informatics Ltd.
  • On 14 July 2025, Sabyasachi Couture appointed Manish Chopra—former Shein India CEO and ex-Meta executive—as its new CEO. The move supports Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (ABFRL)’s vision to globalize Sabyasachi’s luxury brand; ABFRL holds 51% stake.

Obituaries:
  • On 13 July 2025, Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari passed away at 82 in a London clinic after a prolonged illness. He led Nigeria twice — as a military ruler (1983–1985) and as an elected president (2015–2023), known for his anti-corruption drive.
  • Fauja Singh, the legendary 114-year-old marathon runner, passed away on 14 July 2025 in a tragic hit-and-run accident near his home in Beas Pind, Jalandhar, Punjab. Known globally as the “Turbaned Tornado,” Singh began competitive running at the age of 89 and completed nine full marathons, including the London, Toronto, and New York events.
  • On 14 July 2025, queer poet Andrea Gibson passed away at 49 after battling ovarian cancer. Known for heartfelt works on grief, gender, and identity, they were Colorado’s Poet Laureate. Their legacy lives on in the Sundance-winning documentary Come See Me in the Good Light.
