National:
  • The Automotive Mission Plan 2047 (AMP 2047) was initiated by the Government of India on 17 July 2025, under the leadership of the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI). It is chaired by Kamran Rizvi, Secretary of MHI, and coordinated by Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary. The plan aims to position India as a global automotive hub by 2047, aligned with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.

  • On 21 July 2025, L&T Energy GreenTech set up India’s biggest green hydrogen plant at IOCL’s refinery in Panipat, Haryana. The plant will make 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen every year using renewable energy, and will work for 25 years under a special agreement.
  • On July 18, 2025, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the merger of Adani Cementation with Ambuja Cements, effective April 1, 2024. Adani Enterprises will get 8.7 million Ambuja shares via a share swap. It includes transfer of limestone mines and a proposed unit in Raigad, Maharashtra. The merger boosts Ambuja’s capacity to 100+ MTPA, targeting 140 MTPA by FY28 to rival UltraTech.
  • On 19 July 2025, Nagaland hosted its first Mango Festival in Longmatra, Kiphire district, to boost agriculture and rural entrepreneurship. Thirteen villages showcased organic mango cultivation, with focus on commercial varieties and cluster farming. Leaders like S. Kiusumew Yimchunger and Temsuwati Longkumer promoted scaling production and branding.
  • Bihar is the first Indian state to cap polling station size at 1,200 voters, down from 1,500. To enable this, 12,817 new polling booths were added, taking the total to 90,712. This is part of a Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections. Draft rolls will be published on August 1, 2025, inviting public feedback and corrections.
  • On 22 July 2025, India celebrated six years since the launch of Chandrayaan-2, ISRO’s second lunar mission. It included an orbiter, lander (Vikram), and rover (Pragyan), aimed at exploring the Moon’s south pole. Though the lander crash-landed, the orbiter is still active, sending valuable data on lunar minerals and water molecules.
International:
  • On 15 July 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) validated Senegal as the 25th country globally and 9th in Africa to eliminate trachoma as a public health threat. 🦠 Trachoma is an eye infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, which can lead to blindness if untreated—mainly affecting rural, underprivileged communities.
Banking:
  • On 16 July 2025, Laraware Pvt Ltd launched Nxtbanking, India’s first fully AI-driven fintech platform. It integrates over 50 financial APIs with an 8-layer AI engine for KYC, fraud detection, and compliance. Built for banks, NBFCs, and startups, it offers plug-and-play infra, BI dashboards, and bank-grade encryption. Led by Anvesh Tiwari, the platform supports India’s vision of a $1 trillion digital economy through scalable innovation.
  • On July 21, 2025, ADB approved a ₹975.26 crore loan to boost infrastructure in 9 industrial areas of Tripura. The plan includes 34 roads, sheds, substations, fire stations, and underground electric lines. New hubs will be set up at Santirbazar (127 acres) and Fatikroy (28 acres) using reclaimed industrial land. Tripura also aims to lead in rubber wood plywood production, with 7 new units under development.
  • On 19 July 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved Currant Sea Investments B.V., backed by Warburg Pincus, to acquire a 9.99% stake in IDFC First Bank via ₹60/share CCPS route. This move is part of a ₹7,500 crore joint capital infusion with ADIA’s Platinum Invictus. While regulatory nods were secured, Currant Sea’s nominee director failed board approval, garnering only 64.1% support.
Science & Technology:
  • NISAR, a ₹13,000 crore Earth observation satellite, will launch on 30 July 2025 from Sriharikota. Jointly developed by ISRO and NASA, it combines L- and S-band radar to detect 1 cm changes on Earth. It will monitor disasters, crops, forests, glaciers, and surface water, scanning the globe every 12 days.
  • On 17 July 2025, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) announced AdFalciVax—India’s first indigenous recombinant multi-stage malaria vaccine targeting Plasmodium falciparum. It blocks both pre-erythrocytic (before red blood cells) and sexual (transmission) stages of the parasite, offering dual protection and long-term immunity.

  • The FIDE World Cup 2025 will be hosted by India from 30 October to 27 November 2025, featuring 206 players in a knockout format. The top 3 finishers will qualify for the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026, which decides the challenger for the World Chess Championship.
Defence:
  • On 21 July 2025, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) launched ‘Ajay’, the last of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW SWC) for the Indian Navy. The ship is made with over 80% Indian materials, supporting Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Govt. Schemes:
  • Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a ₹5/litre milk subsidy scheme on July 20, 2025, to boost dairy farming and rural income. It will benefit 20,000 dairy farmers from 601 cooperative societies, with support for up to 30 litres/day per farmer. ₹10 crore has been allocated for FY 2025–26, and subsidies will be credited via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Committees:
  • On 21 July 2025, the ICC set up an 8-member working group during its AGM in Singapore to study a two-tier Test cricket system. Chaired by Jay Shah and led by Sanjog Gupta, the panel includes key cricket board heads like ECB’s Richard Gould and CA’s Todd Greenberg. The committee’s goal is to restructure the World Test Championship into two divisions of six teams with promotion and relegation.

Appointments:
  • On 21 July 2025, Deepak Bagla was appointed as the Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog. He earlier served as Managing Director & CEO of Invest India, with 30+ years of experience in investment and policy.
  • On 21 July 2025, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar administered the oath to five new members—two elected from Assam and three nominated. The elected members were Birendra Prasad Baishya (AGP) and Kanad Purkayastha (BJP); the nominated ones were Dr Meenakshi Jain, C Sadanandan Master, and Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
  • Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar officially resigned from his post on July 21, 2025, submitting his letter to President Droupadi Murmu. He cited health concerns and the need to “prioritise health care and abide by medical advice” as the reason for stepping down.
