National:
  • On 3rd July 2025, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved ₹1.05 lakh crore worth of defence procurement proposals under the ‘Buy (Indian–IDDM)’ category. These include Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAM), Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMVs), electronic warfare systems, ISTAR aircraft, and other advanced equipment for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

  • On 3rd July 2025, India and Australia signed a three-year defence research pact to jointly develop advanced undersea surveillance technologies. The collaboration between India’s DRDO and Australia’s DSTG will focus on detecting submarines and underwater vehicles using towed array systems and smart algorithms.
  • On 3rd July 2025, India established its first Equine Disease-Free Compartment (EDFC) at the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre & College in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It was officially recognised by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The EDFC is free from five major equine diseases, enabling Indian sport horses to compete globally without quarantine.
  • On 3rd July 2025, India rejoined the Unicode Consortium as a Supporting Member with voting rights, becoming the only national government with such a role. The move, led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), supports the Technology Development for Indian Languages (TDIL) initiative. India now holds a half vote in the Unicode Technical Committee, influencing global standards for text and emojis.
  • On 3rd July 2025, Union MoS Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar launched SAKSHAM-3000, a high-speed switch-cum-router developed by C-DOT. It delivers a throughput of 25.6 Tbps and supports 32 ports of 400G, designed for AI, 5G/6G, and cloud infrastructure. Powered by C-DOT Router Operating System (CROS), it supports Layer-2, IP, MPLS, PTP, and Sync-E protocols
  • On 4th July 2025, Shivam Mukherjee Protective Products (SMPP) Pvt. Ltd. secured a ₹300 crore order from the Indian Army under Emergency Procurement (EP-5). The deal includes 27,700 bulletproof jackets and 11,700 ballistic helmets that resist AK-47 steel core bullets.
  • On July 5, 2025, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of India’s first National Cooperative University. Named Tribhuvan Sahkari University, it is located in Anand, Gujarat, the birthplace of Amul. The university is named after Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel, a pioneer of India’s cooperative movement.
  • On 4th July 2025, Puducherry was recognised as a frontrunner in the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). It achieved a 136% increase in TB testing since 2015 and a 59% reduction in TB cases over the decade. Advanced diagnostics like CBNAAT and Truenat are used for nearly 100% of suspected cases.
  • On July 4, 2025, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the ‘Shrishti’ Digital Studio at IIPA, New Delhi. The studio will support digital training, e-learning, and content creation for civil servants. It aligns with Mission Karmayogi and iGOT to promote tech-enabled governance.
International:
  • On 4th July 2025, Russia became the first country to officially recognise the Taliban government in Afghanistan. It removed the Taliban from its list of banned organisations and accepted their appointed ambassador. The move aims to boost ties in trade, energy, and regional security.
Banking:
  • Sunil Jayawant Kadam took charge as Executive Director of SEBI on July 1, 2025. He will oversee key departments including IT, Investor Assistance, Economic Policy, and NISM. A SEBI veteran since 1996, he earlier served as Chief General Manager and Regional Director.
  • On July 1, 2025, the Cabinet approved the ₹99,446 crore Employment-Linked Incentive Scheme. It targets creation of over 3.5 crore jobs in two years, mainly in manufacturing. First-time workers may get ₹15,000; employers ₹3,000/month per new hire. The scheme covers jobs created from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027.
  • On 1st July 2025, SEBI approved MobiKwik Securities Broking Pvt Ltd (MSBPL) to operate as a stockbroker and clearing member. MSBPL, a subsidiary of One MobiKwik Systems Ltd, can now handle equity trading and settlement in Indian markets. This move expands MobiKwik’s presence in wealth management and capital markets.
Economy:
  • India’s services sector PMI rose to 60.4 in June 2025, hitting a 10-month high. The data was officially released on July 3, 2025, by S&P Global. Growth was driven by strong domestic demand and rising export orders. Employment rose for the 37th straight month, while input cost inflation eased.
Sports:
  • On July 4, 2025, Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh won the Rapid Chess title at the Grand Chess Tour in Zagreb. He scored 14 out of 18 points, defeating top players like Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So. Gukesh made a strong comeback with five consecutive wins after an early loss.
Govt. Schemes:
  • On July 1, 2025, MP Cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana to boost rural self-reliance. One eligible village per assembly seat will be developed as a model Vrindavan Gram. The focus is on cow rearing, organic farming, solar energy, and water conservation.
  • Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma launched the Garibi Mukt Gaon Yojana on July 2, 2025, to eliminate rural poverty. In Phase 1, 5,002 villages will be developed with ₹1,300 crore to support BPL families. Eligible families may get up to ₹1 lakh aid and ₹21,000 incentive for crossing the poverty line.

  • Sukanya Sonowal was appointed as a Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassador on July 3, 2025, for the 2025–2027 term. She will serve as Lead – Communications & Public Relations in the 56-nation CYPAN network. A B.Tech student at IIT Guwahati and co-founder of STEMvibe, she hails from Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
  • Sahil Kini was appointed CEO of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) on July 2, 2025, succeeding Rajesh Bansal. He co-founded fintech firm Setu and contributed to IndiaStack innovations like Aadhaar and UPI. Kini is an IIT Madras alumnus with experience at McKinsey, Aspada, and iSPIRIT Foundation.
Awards & Honours:
  • On July 4, 2025, PM Narendra Modi received Trinidad and Tobago’s highest civilian honour, the Order of the Republic. It was presented by President Christine Kangaloo and announced by PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Port of Spain. Modi became the first foreign leader to receive this prestigious award.
  • On July 5, 2025, S.R.N. Mehta CBSE School from Kalaburagi won first prize in NASA–NSS Space Settlement Design Contest. Their project IRA, a sustainable space colony, topped the 8th grade category. The team presented it at ISDC 2025 in Orlando, Florida, on June 21.

  • A new book titled "Public Administration in India" was launched on July 4, 2025, at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi. This particular edition is authored by Bidyut Chakrabarty and Prakash Chand Kandpal. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh unveiled the book, which aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of India's public administration and governance.

  • On 3 July 2025, Nigerian football legend Peter Rufai passed away at the age of 61 in Lagos. Nicknamed “Dodo Mayana,” he was Nigeria’s goalkeeper in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. He led Nigeria to win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and earned 65 international caps.
