  • On July 6, 2025, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Phenome India National Biobank at CSIR–Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi. It collects genomic, lifestyle, and clinical data from 10,000 individuals under the Phenome India Project, inspired by the UK Biobank. Aims to advance AI-based diagnostics, CRISPR therapies, and early disease detection tailored to India's diverse population.

  • On July 7, 2025, Tamil Nadu became the first Indian state to launch a Predictive Death Model for Tuberculosis (TB) patients. Developed by ICMR–National Institute of Epidemiology, it’s part of the TN–Knowledge Enhanced Tuberculosis (TN-KET) initiative. Integrated into the TB Supportive Empowerment through Web-based Application (TB SeWA), it uses five clinical indicators to assess risk.
  • On 6 July 2025, Haryana announced plans to develop Asia’s largest jungle safari in the Aravalli Hills over 10,000 acres. The project aims to boost eco-tourism, wildlife conservation, and local employment opportunities. It will feature diverse flora and fauna, using sustainable technology inspired by Gujarat’s Vantara model.
  • On July 7, 2025, the Modi govt announced a ₹5,000 crore plan to boost Northeast waterways. It includes the Kaladan project, water metros, and 85 jetties. Training for 50,000 youth and 500 annual jobs via maritime skill centres. Aims to promote trade, tourism, and regional connectivity under the Act East Policy.
  • On 8 July 2025, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced four new Amrit Bharat Express trains for Bihar. The routes include Patna–Delhi, Darbhanga–Lucknow, Malda–Lucknow, and Saharsa–Amritsar. He also launched rail projects worth over ₹6,000 crore, including track doubling and new lines.

  • India became the 4th largest biofuel consumer in 2024, overtaking China, according to the Statistical Review of World Energy 2025. The report was released by the Energy Institute, in collaboration with Kearney and KPMG, on July 1, 2025. India consumed 77,000 barrels/day (up 40%) and produced 70,000 barrels/day (up 27%) last year. It highlights global energy trends, with biofuel demand reaching 2.2 million barrels/day, led by Asia-Pacific.

  • On 7 July 2025, Magnus Carlsen won the SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz 2025 in Zagreb, Croatia. He secured the title with 22.5 points out of 36, clinching victory with a round to spare. Wesley So finished second and India’s D. Gukesh came third in this Grand Chess Tour event.
  • On 5 July 2025, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the fastest Youth ODI century in just 52 balls against England U-19. He made 143 runs off 78 balls, breaking the previous record of 53 balls held by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam. His innings helped India post 363/9 and win the match by 55 runs, sealing the series 3–1.

  • On July 5, 2025, the UP Government launched two pilgrimage support schemes to promote spiritual heritage. The Buddhist Tirtha Darshan Yojana offers ₹10,000 aid to Buddhist pilgrims, especially monks. The Panch Takht Yatra Yojana provides ₹10,000 to Sikh devotees for visiting five Takht Sahib sites across India.

  • World Kiswahili Language Day 2025 was observed on July 7 to celebrate Kiswahili as the first African language recognized by the UN. The theme was “Kiswahili: A Bridge for Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue”. Events in Paris and Kigali highlighted its role in promoting unity, education, and regional cooperation.

  • On 8 July 2025, BMW Group announced the appointment of Hardeep Singh Brar as President and CEO of BMW India. He will assume office on 1 September 2025, succeeding Vikram Pawah, who moves to lead BMW Australia & New Zealand. Brar brings over 30 years of experience from Kia, Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, and other major automakers.
  • On 6 July 2025, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons was elected as Suriname’s first female president. She was chosen unopposed by the National Assembly after her party secured a majority through a coalition. Simons is a former parliamentary speaker and member of the National Democratic Party (NDP). She will take office on 16 July 2025.

  • On 8 July 2025, veteran archaeologist V. Vedachalam was honoured with the Tamil Wikki Suran Award in Madurai. He was recognized for over 50 years of work in Tamil archaeology, including identifying the Keeladi excavation site. Vedachalam has authored 25 books and discovered a 2,000-year-old inscription at Vikramangalam.

Obituaries:
  • Asia's oldest elephant, Vatsala, passed away at the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, India, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Believed to be over 100 years old, she was a beloved figure known for her gentle nature and maternal instincts.
  • On 8 July 2025, Afghan cricket umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari passed away at 41 after surgery in Peshawar. He was part of the ICC International Panel, officiating in 34 ODIs and 26 T20Is since 2017.
  • On 7 July 2025, former MP and UP minister Kunwar Anand Singh passed away at the age of 87 in Lucknow. He was a prominent leader from Gonda, known as the “UP Tiger” for his influence in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Singh served in both the Lok Sabha and UP Assembly, and was Agriculture Minister in 2012.
