Current Context: On 22 July 2025, Henley & Partners released the Henley Passport Index (July Edition), ranking passports based on global travel freedom.

India’s Position
  • 77th Rank, up from 85th in January 2025
  • Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 countries
Key Highlights
  • Singapore topped the index with access to 193 destinations
  • Japan and South Korea share 2nd place (190 destinations)
  • Seven EU nations (e.g., Germany, France, Italy) jointly hold 3rd place (189 destinations)
  • UAE ranked 8th, marking the largest 10-year climb (from 42nd to 8th)
  • Afghanistan remains at the bottom with access to only 25 destinations
  • India’s new visa-free additions: Philippines and Sri Lanka
  • India now ranks 5th among Asian countries, ahead of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
