Current Context: AU Small Finance Bank launched Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services for Non-Resident External (NRE) and Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) account holders on August 20, 2025.

  • This facility allows NRIs to use UPI with international mobile numbers, without needing an Indian SIM.
  • It is available in 12 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, and Australia.
  • Supported apps include Google Pay and PhonePe.
  • As per AU SFB’s rollout, Android users face a ₹5,000 limit for the first 24 hours, while iOS users have the same limit for 72 hours—after which the daily limit rises to ₹1,00,000.
