  • On August 11, 2025, LTIMindtree joined India’s first Quantum Valley project at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. In partnership with L&T, IBM, and the state government, it will develop a Quantum Centre of Excellence for deep tech research. The hub will host India’s largest quantum computer—IBM Quantum System Two—and foster industrial and societal applications.

  • Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the ‘Garuda Drishti’ cyber intelligence system on August 10, 2025, in Nagpur. The tool is designed to detect cyber fraud, hate speech, and communal incitement on social media platforms.
  • On August 11, 2025, Karnataka launched KATALYST, an Ease of Doing Business cell to support Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Under its GCC Policy 2024–2029, the state aims to set up 500 new GCCs by 2029, creating 3.5 lakh jobs and $50 billion in output. KATALYST will fast-track approvals, reduce setup time to under 45 days, and offer a single-window support system.
  • Aadhaar face authentication crossed 200 crore transactions on August 10, 2025, doubling from 100 crore in less than six months. The milestone showcases rapid adoption of secure, contactless identity verification. UIDAI credited partnerships with banks and government bodies for the growth. It reflects India’s digital progress under the Digital India initiative.
  • The Union Health Ministry launched SHRESTH (State Health Regulatory Excellence Index) to assess and improve state drug regulatory systems. It uses a monthly, data-driven evaluation across 27 indices for manufacturing states and 23 for distribution states/UTs. The initiative promotes uniform standards, capacity building, and global credibility.
  • India handed over 5 metric tonnes of black-eyed cowpea seeds to Fiji on August 11, 2025, as part of its Act East Policy to strengthen Indo-Pacific ties. The seeds aim to boost Fiji’s agricultural resilience, food security, and rural livelihoods. This initiative supports Fiji’s largest cowpea cultivation project and reflects India’s commitment to humanitarian aid.
  • The Indian government has approved ₹4,594 crore to establish four semiconductor facilities in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh. Odisha will host a silicon carbide chip plant and a 3D glass packaging unit backed by Intel and Lockheed Martin. Andhra Pradesh will get a chip packaging unit, while Punjab will see CDIL’s manufacturing expansion. These projects aim to boost domestic chip production and reduce import reliance.
  • On August 12, 2025, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appointed a three-member panel to investigate corruption allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma. The panel includes Justice Aravind Kumar (Supreme Court), Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava (Madras HC), and Senior Advocate B.V. Acharya (Karnataka HC).
Banking:
  • On August 8, 2025, the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) marked its 9th Foundation Day by announcing a record ₹5.4 lakh crore Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) for FY 2024–25. Key reforms included removal of caution money, reduced vendor fees, and exemption from transaction charges for 97% of orders. Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) contributed 36.83% of GMV, surpassing the mandated 25% procurement target.
  • On August 11, 2025, the Centre disbursed ₹3,200 crore under PMFBY to 30 lakh farmers affected by natural disasters. This marks the first installment, with ₹8,000 crore to follow soon. Insurance firms delaying payouts will face a 12% interest penalty, credited directly to farmers. From Kharif 2025, claims will be processed even if states delay premium contributions.
  • RBL Bank partnered with CAMSPay to launch a new digital payment gateway on August 12, 2025, aimed at Indian enterprises. The platform offers real-time settlement, secure card processing, automated reconciliation, and Open API integration. RBL Bank will serve as the merchant acquiring settlement service partner, while CAMSPay provides the payment technology.

  • India’s retail inflation eased to an eight-year low of 1.55% in July 2025, as per data released on August 12. The sharp decline was led by deflation in food prices, with food inflation falling to -1.76%. Rural and urban areas saw price drops in pulses, cereals, and vegetables. The RBI revised its full-year inflation forecast to 3.1%, citing improved price stability.

  • On August 12, 2025, NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) signed an MoU to extract Rare Earth Elements (REEs) from fly ash at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. The aim is to promote critical mineral self-reliance and reduce import dependence through sustainable resource recovery. BARC will provide technical expertise for a pilot project converting fly ash into strategic materials.
  • On August 12, 2025, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) signed an MoU with Zepto Private Limited in New Delhi. The aim is to support early-stage manufacturing startups through the Zepto Nova Innovation Challenge, a six-month mentorship program. It focuses on hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing, especially for women-led and Tier II/III startups.

  • On August 11, 2025, Tata’s Nelco announced its partnership with Eutelsat to launch OneWeb LEO satellite services in India.
