Current Context: The Central Government revised minimum wage rates for workers with effect from 1 October 2025, based on the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

  • For unskilled workers, wages are fixed at around ₹514–₹541 per day, while semi‑skilled workers will earn ₹516–₹674 per day.
  • For skilled workers, the revised rate is ₹610–₹805 per day, and for highly skilled workers, it goes up to ₹938–₹1,048 per day.
  • The revision applies to sectors such as agriculture, construction, and mines, ensuring protection of real wages against inflation.
  • These rates are revised twice a year (April & October) by the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central).
  • The move aims to safeguard workers’ living standards and promote fair wage practices across industries.
