Current Context: The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying (MoFAH&D) signed a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on 18 September 2025.
MoFAH&D–FAO Ink Pact to Boost Blue Port Infra via TCP
  • The initiative focuses on strengthening Blue Port infrastructure in India to modernise fishing harbours with smart, sustainable, and inclusive features.
  • Pilot projects will begin at Vanakbara (Diu) and Jakhau (Gujarat), with expansion to Karaikal (Puducherry) under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
  • The ports will integrate 5G, AI, IoT, and automation for efficiency, traceability, and climate resilience.
  • Eco‑friendly measures include rainwater harvesting, energy‑efficient lighting, and waste management systems.
  • The project has an approved investment of ₹369.8 crore, aiming to boost exports, livelihoods, and sustainable fisheries.
