National:
  • The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has launched SPARK–4.0 (Studentship Program for Ayurveda Research Ken, 2025–26) for BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) students. It offers a ₹50,000 studentship to 300 students for two months, with applications open from October 15 to November 15, 2025. The program aims to nurture young researchers by connecting traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern science.

  • The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) launched the Bengaluru Water Security and Resilience Project on 9 October 2025 with support from the World Bank. IISc (Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru) and IIT‑M (Indian Institute of Technology Madras) joined as key knowledge partners. The project, worth ₹3,500 crore, aims to tackle urban flooding, water scarcity, and climate resilience.
  • On 10 October 2025, Sachin Tendulkar officially launched his own sportswear and athleisure brand, TEN x YOU, in Mumbai. The brand, co-founded with Karthik Gurumurthy and Karan Arora under SRT10 Athleisure Pvt. Ltd., marks Tendulkar’s entry into India’s booming fitness and lifestyle market.
  • On 9 October 2025, the Indian Army initiated induction of the indigenous SAKSHAM Counter‑UAS Grid System. Developed with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), it is India’s first AI‑enabled counter‑drone grid. It provides real‑time detection, tracking, and neutralisation of hostile drones in the Tactical Battlefield Space.
  • On 11 October 2025, PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Integrated Aqua Park at Tzudikong, Mokokchung district, Nagaland. It is being developed under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The park will focus on fish seed production, training, and market linkages. It aims to boost employment, sustainable aquaculture, and local economy in Nagaland.
  • On 11 October 2025, five beaches in Maharashtra received the prestigious Blue Flag certification. The beaches are Shrivardhan, Nagaon (Raigad); Parnaka (Palghar); Guhagar, Ladghar (Ratnagiri). The certification is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), Denmark).
International:
  • On 13 October 2025, Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will be awarded Israel’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Honor, for his role in brokering the Gaza ceasefire and securing the release of Israeli hostages.
  • Patrick Herminie, leader of the United Seychelles party, won the 2025 Presidential Election in Seychelles. He defeated incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan in the runoff on 11 October 2025 with 52.7% votes. This marks the return of United Seychelles to power after its 2020 defeat.
Banking:
  • On 10 October 2025, CotoPay launched India’s first business-focused e-RUPI voucher issuance platform, powered by NPCI’s e-RUPI system, to streamline corporate expense management. This marks a major innovation in how businesses can issue, track, and control digital vouchers for employees and partners.
MoUs:
  • On 10 October 2025, the Bank of India (BoI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Border Security Force (BSF) in New Delhi to extend and enhance financial benefits under its Rakshak Salary Package. The initiative aims to provide BSF personnel and veterans with improved insurance coverage, exclusive banking offers, and digital services.
  • On 10 October 2025, NeGD (National e‑Governance Division, MeitY) signed an MoU with Bharat Taxi (Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd.) to provide technical and strategic support. The collaboration covers platform integration, cybersecurity, privacy, and governance. Bharat Taxi, promoted by cooperatives like NCDC, IFFCO, AMUL, NABARD, NDDB, aims to be India’s first cooperative‑driven national ride‑hailing platform, aligned with the Digital India mission.
Defence:
  • On 10 October 2025, North Korea unveiled its most powerful nuclear missile, the Hwasong‑20, during a military parade in Pyongyang marking the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party. It is a three‑stage solid‑fuel ICBM with a range of 15,000 km, capable of striking the entire US. The missile is MIRV‑capable and has an engine thrust about 40% stronger than Hwasong‑18.

  • World Day Against the Death Penalty 2025, observed on October 10, focuses on the theme "The Death Penalty Protects No One." This theme challenges the misconception that capital punishment enhances public safety or deters crime. It highlights that the death penalty is ineffective, irreversible, and disproportionately affects marginalized groups.

  • Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton passed away on 11 October 2025 in Los Angeles at the age of 79. Best known for her iconic roles in Annie Hall, The Godfather trilogy, Reds, and Something’s Gotta Give, she was celebrated for her versatility and unique style.
