Current Context: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ravi Ranjan as Managing Director (MD) of State Bank of India (SBI).

• He took charge on 15 December 2025 and will serve till his superannuation on 30 September 2028.
• Ravi Ranjan joined SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1991 and has over 34 years of banking experience.
• He earlier worked as Deputy Managing Director (DMD), and also headed Global Markets, Corporate Accounts Group, and SBI Chennai Circle.
• He served as President & COO of SBICAPS, Mumbai, with international assignments in Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
• As MD, he will oversee risk management, stressed assets resolution, and regulatory compliance.
