  • In December 2025, India and Sweden launched 7 joint green tech projects under the LeadIT Industry Transition Partnership. The projects target decarbonising steel and cement sectors, India’s most carbon‑intensive industries. Partners include Tata Steel, JK Cement, Ambuja, Jindal Steel with Swedish firms like Cemvision, Kanthal, Höganäs AB.

  • On 10 Dec 2025, DST (Department of Science & Technology) Secretary Prof. Abhay Karandikar virtually inaugurated the IITM C‑DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation. It was launched at the IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The foundation will serve as India’s National Hub for Quantum Communication under the NQM (National Quantum Mission).
  • On 11 Dec 2025, NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) partnered with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL). They launched a Start-up Acceleration Programme under Project Circular Bharat in New Delhi. The initiative will support 50 start-ups over 3 years focusing on circular economy solutions.
  • The 7th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA‑7) was held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 8–12 December 2025. Its theme was “Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet”, with participation from 186 countries. Delegates adopted 11 resolutions, 3 decisions, and a ministerial declaration to strengthen global environmental action. India’s delegation, led by MoS Kirti Singh Vardhan, highlighted national efforts in climate and sustainability.
  • On 8 Dec 2025, Gujarat launched the Smart Blue Harbours initiative to modernise fishing hubs. The project integrates AI, 5G, and sustainable infrastructure starting with Jakhau Harbour. It is supported by the Government of India and FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization). The aim is to boost fisheries, food security, exports, and the coastal economy through the blue economy model.
  • On 10 Dec 2025, Telangana Govt and Google launched the Google for Startups Hub in Hyderabad. It was inaugurated at T-Hub by CM A. Revanth Reddy, IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Google leaders. The hub offers AI-first startups free co-working space, mentoring, and access to Google tools & investors. Telangana also announced a ₹1,000 crore Fund of Funds to boost innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • On 11 December 2025, President Droupadi Murmu visited Imphal, Manipur. She inaugurated 12 projects worth ₹207 crore and laid foundation stones for 14 projects worth ₹1,180 crore. The ceremony was held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal. In total, 26 projects worth ₹1,387 crore were launched to boost infrastructure, healthcare, and education in Manipur.
  • India launched a pilot project on 11 December 2025 to test Toyota’s Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). It is led by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) with Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). The project will run for two years, assessing hydrogen mobility in Indian terrains and climates.
  • The Union Cabinet has approved ₹11,718.24 crore for conducting Census 2027. It will be India’s first digital census, using a mobile app instead of paper schedules. Conducted in two phases: House-listing (Apr–Sept 2026) and Population Enumeration (Feb 2027).
  • On 12 Dec 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the CoalSETU policy. It was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. CoalSETU stands for Auction of Coal Linkage for Seamless, Efficient & Transparent Utilisation. It ensures fair access, transparent allocation, and optimal utilisation of coal for industries and exports.
International:
  • On 11 December 2025, India and Italy signed the protocol of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC) in Mumbai. It was signed by Piyush Goyal (India) and Antonio Tajani (Italy). The protocol aims to boost trade, investment, and collaboration in sectors like auto, textiles, defence, and space.
Banking:
  • On 10 December 2025, IndusInd Bank and Jio‑bp launched the IndusInd Bank Jio‑bp Mobility+ Credit Card in Mumbai. It is IndusInd’s first fuel‑focused card and Jio‑bp’s first co‑branded offering. The card, powered by RuPay and UPI, offers fuel rewards and lifestyle benefits.
  • On 10 December 2025, RBI approved SBI and Bank of Baroda to set up a fraud detection platform. The new entity, Indian Digital Payment Intelligence Corporation (IDPIC), will be a Section 8 company. It will focus on real‑time monitoring and prevention of fraudulent digital transactions.
  • On 11 December 2025, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) raised India’s GDP growth forecast to 7.2% for FY26, up from its earlier estimate of 7%. The revision reflects strong domestic demand, robust investment, and government infrastructure push. ADB highlighted resilience in manufacturing, construction, and services, despite global uncertainties.
  • On 10 December 2025, Amazon announced plans to invest USD 35 billion in India by 2030. The investment will focus on e‑commerce expansion, cloud services (AWS), logistics, and digital infrastructure. Amazon aims to strengthen its presence in retail, small business digitization, and job creation, supporting India’s digital economy.
MoUs:
  • On 12 Dec 2025 in New Delhi, the MSME Ministry signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Amazon. The aim is to empower artisans under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme). It provides digital marketplace access, branding, and nationwide reach through Amazon’s Karigar initiative.
  • On 10 December 2025, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) signed an MoU with Amazon in New Delhi. The partnership includes an Amazon Chair Professorship at GSV for logistics and warehousing research. It focuses on curriculum development, knowledge sharing, and collaborative research in transport and supply chain.

  • ZSI discovered two new jumping spider species in Meghalaya — Asemonea dentis and Colyttus nongwar. Asemonea dentis has a tooth‑like projection, while Colyttus nongwar is named after Nongwar village. Both enrich India’s Salticidae diversity and highlight Meghalaya’s rich biodiversity.

  • On 11 December 2025, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann unveiled stands named after Yuvraj Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur. The ceremony took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). It was held ahead of the India vs South Africa 2nd T20I match. The honour celebrates their World Cup triumphs and iconic contributions to Indian cricket.

  • On 11 December 2025, India launched its first hydrogen fuel cell passenger vessel in Varanasi. Built by Cochin Shipyard Ltd. for the Inland Waterways Authority of India, it runs on hydrogen fuel cells. The 24‑metre AC catamaran carries 50 passengers with zero emissions and only water as a by‑product.

  • The third India–Malaysia Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting was held on 10 Dec 2025 in New Delhi. It was co‑chaired by Dr. Vinod Bahade (MEA, India) and Mr. Mohd. Azlan Razali (Home Affairs, Malaysia). The JWG is constituted by officials from India’s MEA Counter Terrorism Division and Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs. Its aim is to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, terror financing, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and transnational crime.

  • On 12 December 2025, Maharashtra launched MahaCrimeOS AI, India’s first AI-powered cybercrime investigation platform. It was unveiled at the Microsoft AI Tour in Mumbai by CM Devendra Fadnavis and Satya Nadella. The system will expand from 23 Nagpur police stations to all 1,100 stations statewide. It enables AI-driven complaint analysis, FIR drafting, and faster cybercrime investigations in English, Hindi, and Marathi.
  • On 10 December 2025, Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil launched the Sujalam Bharat App in New Delhi. The app was developed by BISAG‑N to strengthen the Jal Jeevan Mission. It provides real‑time, geo‑referenced monitoring of rural drinking water supply assets. The initiative aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and community empowerment in water governance.
Military Exercises:
  • The 10th edition of Garuda Shakti 2025, a joint India–Indonesia Special Forces exercise, began on 3 December 2025.   • On 14 December 2025, Team MRF Tyres won the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) Team Title. It was awarded at the FIA Awards Gala in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This marks their third ERC crown after victories in 2022 and 2023. The win highlights India’s global motorsport presence and engineering excellence.
  • On 10 December 2025, Supriya Sahu, IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary (Environment, Climate Change & Forests) of Tamil Nadu, won the UNEP Champions of the Earth 2025 Award for Climate Leadership. She became the first Indian bureaucrat to be honoured for pioneering subnational climate action, sustainable cooling, and ecosystem restoration.
Obituaries:
  • On 12 December 2025, senior Congress leader Shivraj Patil passed away in New Delhi at the age of 90. He was a former Union Home Minister (2004–2008) and also served as Lok Sabha Speaker (1991–1996). Patil played a key role in Indian politics, representing Latur, Maharashtra, for multiple terms.
