  • On 16 December 2025, the Lok Sabha passed the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2025. The Bill repeals 71 obsolete Acts and amends 4 existing laws for clarity. It corrects provisions in the Succession Act, Civil Procedure Code, Disaster Management Act, and General Clauses Act.

  • Veteran journalist Prafulla Govinda Baruah, Chairman Emeritus & Editor of The Assam Tribune, passed away on 14 December 2025 in Guwahati. He was 93/94 years old and a recipient of the Padma Shri for journalism. Son of The Assam Tribune founder Radha Govinda Baruah, he led the newspaper group since 1966.
