National:
  • In December 2025, the Government approved Final Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for PM MITRA Parks. PM MITRA stands for Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel. An investment of ₹5,567 crore will be made across Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The initiative aims to boost textile manufacturing, exports, and employment through world-class integrated parks.

  • On December 17, 2025, Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) secured a ₹273 crore contract from the Ministry of Railways. The deal involves supplying Railway Bridge Maintenance Vehicles (RBMVs) with design, manufacture, testing, and commissioning. It also includes training, servicing, and breakdown maintenance support for railway personnel.
  • On 9 December 2025, Armenia unveiled the COP17 logo featuring the Yerevan Blue Butterfly. The butterfly, endemic to the Armenian highlands, symbolizes continuity, diversity, and ecosystem recovery. Its design uses 23 colors representing the targets of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. COP17 of the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, from 18–30 October 2026.
  • India took part in the 11th UNAOC Global Forum held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 14–15 December 2025. The forum’s theme was “Dialogue for Humanity in a Multipolar World”. India’s delegation was led by P. Kumaran, Secretary (East), MEA. It highlighted Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarva Dharma Samabhav as guiding principles for global harmony.
  • On 19 December 2025, the Ministry of Jal Shakti organised the second edition of Sujal Gram Samvad in New Delhi. It created a multilingual dialogue platform connecting policymakers with rural communities under the Jal Jeevan Mission. States like Assam, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Gujarat, Karnataka, J&K, and Uttarakhand participated.
  • On 16 December 2025, the Government launched the modernisation of Doordarshan and Akashvani under the BIND Scheme (2021–26). With ₹2,539.61 crore, the plan focuses on HD channels, WAVES OTT, and content reforms. It aims to enhance quality, technology, and reach, while supporting local talent and regional languages. This ensures India’s public broadcasters remain competitive and culturally relevant in the digital era.
  • On 20 December 2025, Jammu & Kashmir hosted its first international Indian style wrestling event. The prestigious Rustam-e-Jammu Kashmir Title 2025 was held at Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu. This marked a historic debut for the region in promoting traditional Kushti at a global level. The event aimed to boost sports culture, youth participation, and tourism in J&K.
International:
  • On 18 December 2025, India and the Netherlands signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on Defence Cooperation in New Delhi. The agreement was witnessed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Netherlands Foreign Minister David Van Weel. It focuses on co-development, co-production, and enhanced military-to-military cooperation.
Banking:
  • The HSBC India Composite PMI slipped to 58.9 in December 2025, down from 59.7 in November, marking the softest output growth since February. Although the index remains well above the neutral 50 mark, indicating continued expansion, the pace of new orders and employment slowed.
  • India is the world’s largest producer of makhana (fox nuts), contributing about 80% of global output. Within India, Bihar accounts for nearly 85%, with Darbhanga district as the main hub. Makhana is valued for its nutritional, economic, and export potential, supporting thousands of farmers. The Government highlighted this dominance in Parliament on 16 December 2025.
Economy:
  • The Government of Chhattisgarh presented a ₹35,000 crore Supplementary Budget for FY26 on December 14, 2025. It was introduced by Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary, marking the largest supplementary budget in the state’s history. The focus is on reviving institutions like MARKFED and NAAN, strengthening capital investment, and clearing liabilities.

  • International Human Solidarity Day 2025 was observed on December 20, 2025, as declared by the UN. It was established by UNGA Resolution 60/209 (2005) to promote unity and cooperation worldwide. The 2025 theme was “Solidarity for Sustainable Development: Uniting Communities for a Shared Future.” The day highlights poverty eradication, equality, climate action, and shared responsibility for achieving SDGs.

  • On 2 December 2025, British artist Nnena Kalu won the Turner Prize 2025 at Tate Britain, London. She became the first learning-disabled artist to receive this prestigious contemporary art award. Kalu is celebrated for her sculptural installations and vibrant drawings exploring rhythm and energy. Her win marks a historic step for inclusivity and recognition of neurodiverse creativity in global art.
  • On 15 December 2025, Innoviti Technologies won the ASK Private Hurun India Unicorn & Future Unicorn Award. It was listed as a “Cheetah”, a fast-growing company expected to become a unicorn soon. Innoviti was recognized for its SaaS-based payment solutions empowering retailers and SMEs. The firm achieved operating profitability in May 2025, marking a key milestone in its growth.

  • Veteran Malayalam actor, writer, and filmmaker Sreenivasan passed away on December 20, 2025, at age 69 in Kochi. He was celebrated as the voice of the common man, blending satire, humor, and social critique in cinema.
