National:
  • The Government of India approved the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2025 on December 1, 2025, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG). Banking:
  • On 1 Dec 2025, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) approved the ₹10,000 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company (AMC). It will be an Offer for Sale (OFS) by Prudential Corporation Holdings (UK). The AMC manages ₹8.79 lakh crore Assets Under Management (AUM) with a 13% market share.
  • On 2 December 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) granted Razorpay the Payment Aggregator – Cross Border (PA-CB) licence, authorizing it to act as a cross-border payment aggregator. This allows Razorpay to facilitate both inward and outward international transactions under full regulatory oversight.
Economy:
  • The OECD retained India’s GDP growth forecast for FY26 at 6.7%, released in its Economic Outlook on December 2, 2025. The projection highlights strong domestic demand driven by rising incomes, easing monetary policy, and robust public investment. Key challenges include US tariffs on exports and the need for reforms in infrastructure, trade, and education.
  • India’s factory output (IIP) growth fell to 0.4% in October 2025, compared to 11.7% last year. The slowdown was led by weak manufacturing (0.2%) and mining (-1.5%), though electricity rose 5.6%. Cumulative Apr–Oct FY26 growth stood at 4.8% versus 6.9% last year. This decline signals industrial weakness that could weigh on overall economic momentum.
MoUs:
  • The Ministry of Tourism signed a two-year MoU with Mastercard on December 2, 2025 in New Delhi to establish India as a global tourism hotspot. The agreement aims to showcase India’s cultural, spiritual, natural, and culinary heritage through Mastercard’s Priceless™ program. It will curate unique travel experiences beginning with destinations like Goa, Varanasi, and Andhra Pradesh.

  • On 4 Dec 2025, Dr. Renuka Iyer was appointed as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). She is a Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also serves as Section Chief of Gastrointestinal Oncology and Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs.
Obituaries:
  • On 4 December 2025, former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal passed away at the age of 73 in New Delhi. He was India’s youngest governor (1985–1989) and played a key role in the 1986 Mizoram Peace Accord. Kaushal also served as a Rajya Sabha MP (1998–2004) and was a noted Supreme Court lawyer.
