National:
  • On 5 December 2025, SEBI granted in‑principle approval to register the Raajmarg Infra Investment Trust (RIIT), promoted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The trust is set to function as an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT), aimed at monetizing highway assets. SEBI has given RIIT six months to fulfill compliance requirements before final registration.

  • On 6 December 2025, Amit Shah, Union Home Minister & Minister of Cooperation, inaugurated a Bio‑CNG and Fertilizer Plant at Vav‑Tharad, Gujarat, built by Banas Dairy. He also laid the foundation stone for a 150‑tonne milk powder plant. The project aims to promote a circular economy by converting waste and dung into Bio‑CNG and organic fertilizer.
  • Rohit Sharma etched his name in history by becoming the fourth Indian to cross 20,000 international runs in December 2025. He reached the milestone during the 3rd ODI against South Africa at Visakhapatnam, showcasing his consistency across formats.   • Punjab National Bank (PNB) launched its premium RuPay Metal Credit Card ‘Luxura’ on December 5, 2025, marking its entry into the luxury credit card segment. The card was unveiled by Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who also became its first customer. Designed for high-value customers, Luxura offers exclusive lifestyle privileges, luxury rewards, and milestone benefits.
  • LIC and Yes Bank signed a strategic bancassurance partnership on December 3, 2025, aimed at boosting insurance accessibility across India. Through this tie-up, LIC’s wide range of life insurance products will be offered via Yes Bank’s branch network and digital platforms. The collaboration supports the national vision of “Insurance for All by 2047”, ensuring broader financial inclusion.
  • Fino Payments Bank has created history by becoming the first payments bank in India to receive the Reserve Bank of India’s in-principle approval on December 5, 2025 for conversion into a Small Finance Bank. This approval marks a major milestone in the evolution of payments banks, which were earlier restricted from lending.

Obituaries:
  • Baba Adhav (1930–2025), veteran social activist, died in Pune on Dec 8, 2025 at 95. Founder of the Hamal Panchayat, he fought for labourers, rickshaw drivers, waste‑pickers, and street vendors. Took part in the Goa Liberation and Samyukta Maharashtra Movements in the 1950s.
  • Kalyan Chatterjee (1944–2025), veteran Bengali actor, passed away in Kolkata on Dec 7, 2025 at 81. Acted in 400+ films, noted for natural portrayals of everyday life. Famous works include Satyajit Ray’s Pratidwandi, Dhanyee Meye, and Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani.
