72nd National Volleyball Tournament

Current Context: The 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship 2025 was held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from January 4–11, 2025.

• It was hosted at the redeveloped Sigra Stadium, with mascots Nandi (Bull) and Neera (Dolphin).
• Over 1,000 players from 58 teams (30 men’s, 28 women’s) participated, making it one of the largest editions.
• In the Men’s final, Railways defeated Kerala 3–0 to clinch the title. In the Women’s final, Kerala beat Railways 3–2 in a thrilling five-set match.
• This was the first time UP hosted after 41 years (last in 1984).
• PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the event virtually, highlighting India’s sports growth and Olympic ambitions.
