MoC, MoRD & MoAFW Ink Logistics MoUs

Current Context: On 7 January 2026, the Ministry of Communications (Department of Posts) signed MoUs with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) in New Delhi.

 

• The aim is to set up a National Logistics Mechanism using India Post’s vast network.
• This mechanism will help transport seed, fertilizer, and pesticide samples to labs, ensuring quality checks and tackling fake inputs.
• It will also provide logistics support for farm produce and Self-Help Group (SHG) products, expanding their market reach.
• The initiative strengthens financial inclusion and rural communication services through postal banking.
• Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Shivraj Singh Chouhan witnessed the signing, highlighting its role in boosting the rural economy and farmer welfare.
