Current Context: On 12th January 2026, The Telangana Government and Hockey India signed an MoU to host the Women’s 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers.

  • The tournament will be held in Hyderabad from 8–14 March 2026.
  • A total of 8 teams including India, England, Scotland, Korea, Italy, Uruguay, Wales, and Austria will participate.
  • The top 3 teams from this qualifier will secure direct entry to the World Cup in Belgium & Netherlands (15–30 Aug 2026).
  • This marks a major boost for women’s hockey in India and strengthens Hyderabad’s profile as a global sports hub.
  • The MoU reflects Telangana’s commitment to promoting sports infrastructure and women’s empowerment.
