National:

• On 12 February 2026, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda launched the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) Campaign in New Delhi. The drive covers 12 endemic states, reaching 17.5 crore people across 111 districts with free medicines. Its aim is to eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) in India by 2027, ahead of the global SDG target of 2030.

• The Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line (Line‑8) has been approved for expansion under Phase V (A) and integration with the Indraprastha–Inderlok corridor of Phase IV. Once completed, it will stretch about 89 km from Botanical Garden (Noida) to Inderlok, making it the longest corridor in the network.
• PLASTINDIA 2026 was held from 5–10 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It hosted 2,000+ exhibitors from 80+ countries, making it one of the world’s largest plastics exhibitions. The theme was “Bharat Next”, aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat & Viksit Bharat vision.

Banking:

• On 10 February 2026, BOBCARD Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda) launched the Braille‑enabled ‘BOBCARD Premier Credit Card’ at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka. The card is specially designed for visually impaired users, allowing them to identify and use it confidently through Braille markings.
• On 6 February 2026, PB Pay Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of PB Fintech, received the Certificate of Authorisation (CoA) from the RBI. This approval allows PB Pay to operate officially as a Payment Aggregator in India. Aim: To strengthen PB Fintech’s digital payments ecosystem and expand fintech services.

Economy:

• Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the Uttar Pradesh Budget on 11 February 2026, with a total outlay of about ₹9.13 lakh crore. The budget emphasizes infrastructure expansion, creation of 10 lakh jobs, women’s empowerment, and farmer welfare. Special allocations were made for Purvanchal and Bundelkhand, along with housing projects in Agra after 33 years.
• Deputy CM and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the Rajasthan Budget on 11 February 2026, with a total outlay of about ₹21.52 lakh crore. The budget emphasizes youth employment (4 lakh jobs, self‑employment loans), infrastructure expansion, solar parks, and rural tap water supply.
• In February 2026, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) reported a sharp fall in FDI inflow into banking. FDI equity inflow declined from USD 898 million in FY23 to just USD 115 million in FY25. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary clarified that FDI includes equity, reinvested earnings, and other capital.

MoUs:

• On 10 February 2026, the Department of Posts (DoP) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) signed an MoU in New Delhi. The partnership enables mutual fund distribution through India Post’s vast network of 1.64 lakh post offices. Aim: To expand financial inclusion and provide last‑mile access to mutual funds, especially in rural and semi‑urban areas.
• The MoU was signed on 9–10 February 2026 at the Black Swan Summit India, Bhubaneswar (Odisha). Parties: GFTN (Singapore‑based global platform spanning 130+ countries) and SPF (India’s forum of 65+ unicorns worth USD 100+ billion). Aim: To accelerate FinTech and digital innovation, strengthen policy engagement, and enable cross‑border collaboration.

Military Exercises:

• From 9–12 February 2026, the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) held a joint air exercise in the Indian Ocean Region. The drill involved IAF Su‑30MKI fighters, AWACS, IL‑78 refuellers and RTAF Gripen jets, focusing on air combat training. The exercise aimed to boost military cooperation, operational coordination, and interoperability between the two forces.

Index & Ranking:

• The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2025 was released by Transparency International on 10 February 2026. India ranked 91st out of 182 countries, with a score of 39, improving from 96th in 2024. Denmark (score 89) retained the top position, followed by Finland (88) and Singapore (84).
