Current Context: The 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) was held from 26–30 March 2026 in Yaoundé, Cameroon – first ever in Central Africa.

  • Theme: “Strengthening Multilateralism for Inclusive Global Trade.”
  • Aim: To deliberate on E‑commerce, Agriculture, Fisheries Subsidies, Dispute Settlement Reform, and Small Economy Integration.
  • Highlights: E‑commerce moratorium lapsed after 28 years; fisheries talks deferred to MC15; push for Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement faced resistance; two decisions adopted for small economies & Special and Differential Treatment (SDT).
  • India’s stance: Led by Shri Piyush Goyal (Union Minister of Commerce & Industry), India stressed Public Stockholding (PSH) for food security, Minimum Support Price (MSP) as non‑negotiable, protection of small fishers, and digital policy space.
